CM Balochistan inaugurates Gwadar Water Treatment Plant

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Sunday inaugurated the Gwadar Water Treatment Plant and also ordered expansion of the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital with addition of 50 beds.
During his visit to the port city which is also terminal point of the multi-billion dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the CM was briefed on functions of the plant completed at a cost of Rs300 million.
Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Sajjad Baloch said that on directives of the CM the water treatment plant was completed in short time, adding that its pipeline would also be completed in the next 10 days. “That plant would be able to provide water to the residents of Gwadar for agricultural and domestic use,” Baloch said.
Expressing satisfaction over the project, Kamal directed the authorities to start a tree plantation drive in Gwadar using the water treatment plant and ensure greenery in parks and sports grounds.
The chief minister also paid a visit to the Gwadar DHQ Hospital and directed the administration to appoint anesthetists on contractual basis in order to start surgeries there.
During a briefing on the hospital expansion project, Kamal directed the health department to submit PC-1 for the expansion in which 50 more beds would be placed with the cost of Rs160 million.
“The provincial government is taking speedy measures to provide quality health facilities to the masses at their doorstep and to revamp the health sector in the province. Work is under way on a policy to appoint doctors on contract and ensure availability of medicines in all DHQ hospitals,” he said.
The CM also directed the authorities to ensure provision of quality health facilities to Gwadar’s residents.
The CM also inaugurated the Balochistan Awami Party’s (BAP) office in Gwadar district and said workers were the backbone of the party and their confidence on the leadership was vital.
Federal Minister Zubaida Jalal and Balochistan Ministers Zahoor Buledi, Zia Langove, Dinesh Kumar and Mah Jabeen Baloch were also present on the occasion. Mir Rauf Rind and other party leaders also took part in the ceremony.
